Description

the first, a pocket-fitting rectangular example decorated with diaper engine-turning to all sides, the interior of the lid later fitted with a mirror, fully hallmarked including standard mark for 18 carat gold, length 7 cm., 2 ¾ in.;

the second, of elongated rectangular shape, all sides engine-turned with a diaper-pattern, the lid centred with a plain rectangular cartouche and an applied small floral thumbpiece, maker’s mark, Paris 3eme titre and grosse garantie 1819-1838, post-1918 French eagle’s head control mark for 18 ct gold, in a fitted red leather case with gold tooling, length 9 cm., 3 ½ in.
