the first, Moulinié, Bautte & Co, Geneva, rectangular with oval section, all sides decorated with concentric engine-turning within chased gold foliate and sunflower borders on a sablé ground, slender thumbpiece, maker's mark, unofficial PC3 Geneva standard mark, Paris 3eme tire and grosse garantie 1809-1819, the right rim numbered 2307, length 8.4cm.; 3 1/4 in.
the second, Charles Colins & Soehne, Hanau, rectangular with curved sides, the surface decorated with reeded engine-turning and an oval cartouche to the front of the lid, the sides with chased two-colour gold floral strapwork on a matted ground, maker's mark, Hanau control mark, the front rim with an array of later control and prestige marks, length 8.7cm.; 3 3/8 in.
the third, a four-coloured gold example, Charles Colins & Soehne, Hanau, rectangular, all sides with diaper-pattern engine-turning, an oval cartouche to the front of the lid, engraved: Ias Hamilton, framed by chased three-colour gold floral scrollwork and stylised tulip borders on a sablé ground, the interior of the lid later engraved: Friendship & Esteem / 1831, maker's mark, Hanau control mark, length 6.1cm; 2 3/8 in.
