oval, the lid centred with an oval enamel plaque painted with a personification of love, in a frame of bright red enamel ovals and green quatrefoils, further bordered with white beads, on a translucent grey enamel ground over chevron engine-turning within matching outer borders, the sides and base similarly decorated, maker's mark, charge and discharge mark of Jean Baptiste Fouache, Paris date letter for 1777/78, the left rim numbered: 1050, post-1918 French control marks,


length 6.7 cm; 2 5/8 in.
