rectangular, the lid centred with an enamel plaque painted with Jacob meeting Rachel at the Well, loosely based on an engraving after a painting by Raphael, framed with chased taille d'épargne strapwork borders or strawberries, flowerheads and leafy scrollwork, on a sablé ground, the sides and base similarly decorated around chevron engine-turning, apparently unmarked
