MORE ABOUT THIS LOT:
A First Classified Growth, Château Mouton Rothschild spans 82 hectares (202 acres) of vines in Pauillac. At the heart of the vineyard lie two plateaux of deep gravel, the Mouton plateau and the Carruades plateau, forming an ideal terroir for great Cabernets. The estate was brought to the pinnacle by Baron Philippe de Rothschild then his daughter Baroness Philippine. Her three children, Camille and Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild, are now committed to perpetuating that quest for excellence.
Château Mouton Rothschild 2009 displays a deep, nearly black hue with a complex nose of bilberry, blackcurrant, blond tobacco, cedarwood, and spice. On the palate, it reveals rich fruit, refined tannins, and a long, opulent finish that reflects the exceptional quality of the vintage. The 2009 label is illustrated by the British artist Anish Kapoor.
