The garnisseur Jean-François Delanoy was the son of a master and member of a large family of Paris goldsmiths of whom at least five worked as sertisseurs, specialists in setting and mounting. He entered his mark in 1785, sponsored by N.J. Maugier, and is recorded as working in the rues St-Martin and St-Denis until 1793.
