Description

elongated oval, all sides decorated in translucent salmon-coloured enamel over chevron engine-turning, the lid later applied with an earlier oval portrait miniature of Anne of Austria, school of Jean Petitot, chased borders of rose-gold acanthus interwined with gold laurel on an opaque white ground, the sides further embellished with Ionic column dividers hung with chased garlands, French prestige marks including a maker’s mark purporting to be that of Joseph-Etienne Blerzy, charge and discharge marks for Julien Alaterre, Paris date letter K,

9 cm; 3 1/2 in. wide
