Cameo Flower-Form Vase

circa 1903

Favrile glass

engraved L.C.T. W7809

13½ inches (34.3 cm) high

Overall in very good condition. When viewed firsthand, the vase presents with an incredibly elegant sculptural quality that is exemplary of the flower-form technique. The carved petals impart the work with a strong naturalistic quality. The glass with occasional minor air bubbles, particulate inclusions and surface irregularities which are inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The glass surfaces throughout with scattered, very fine and light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The stem with a very subtle bend, only visible upon close inspection and inherent to the production of the work. The interior of the coupe with a few slightly more pronounced inclusions, not visually distracting. The underside of the vase is applied with a Doros Collection accession number. The pontil with a few very minor edge losses which is common, inherent to production and only visible when the vase is turned over. A gorgeous, delicate work with balanced form and decoration.
