Pair of Side Tables

circa 1935

patinated wrought-iron, parchment, rosewood

21 x 20 ⅞ x 20 ⅞ in. (53.3 x 53 x 53 cm) each

Overall in very good condition. The rosewood presents with very light surface scratches, abrasions and minor indentations to the edges consistent with age and gentle use. The wood is in age-appropriate condition with very fine hairline cracks and occasional discoloration due to prolonged sun exposure. The original parchment surface presents with great variety in color and texture consistent with age and the natural evolution of the medium. The parchment with scattered surface scratches, small stains and three more pronounced ring marks. The patinated iron bases present with some light oxidation and minute rust marks beneath the patina throughout as consistent with age. Upon close inspection the patina displays light fading to the original black color that is not visually distracting. Please note that one tabletop is slightly wobbly but remains stable and firmly secured to the base. A superb pair of side tables that embodies the artist’s sleek and elegant reinterpretation of Art Deco furniture design.
