AN UNUSUAL BLUE AND WHITE 'LINGZHI AND BABAO' JAR

明嘉靖 青花纏枝靈托八寶紋小罐 《大明嘉靖年製》款
of baluster form, finely painted with a continuous scroll of meandering lingzhi, each of the eight fungi supporting one of the 'Eight Precious Objects,' babao, framed below by a classic scroll border, and above by a diaper band at the shoulder beneath a short straight rim, the base with a six-character mark within double circle.
Height 5 in., 12.7 cm
With multiple small consolidated star cracks to the interior, the largest a Y-form crack, each arm of which measures approx. 1.7 cm, with one arm visible from the exterior. The rim polished. Also with minor surface wear and firing imperfections including kiln chips.
