To differentiate himself from his family, Josep Batlló, a textile industrialist, bought the Casa Batlló in 1903 and hired the architect Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926), asking him to destroy and then completely reconstruct the building. The building was finally thoroughly renovated between 1904-1906, reflecting the modernity of the style of Antoni Gaudi. This vase was part of the Casa Batlló commission.

Pour se démarquer de sa famille, Josep Batlló, industriel du textile, achète la Casa Batlló en 1903 et fait appel à l’architecte Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926), lui demandant de détruire puis de reconstruire entièrement le bâtiment. Finalement, l’édifice est rénové en profondeur entre 1904-1906, reflet de la modernité du style d’Antoni Gaudi. Ce vase a fait partie du plan de rénovation de la Casa Batlló.
