Sculpteur animalier belge et pastelliste, Albéric Collin (1886-1962) subit l’influence de son ami sculpteur Rembrandt Bugatti qu’il rencontre au zoo d’Anvers. Travaillant régulièrement ensemble, il est formé par ce dernier : « Il m’a conseillé, m’a aidé, m’a poussé à parfaire mon art. Je lui suis redevable de beaucoup ». Albéric Collin sculpte exclusivement des animaux, très souvent en bronze et accorde une importance à la qualité de la fonte et de la patine. C’est notamment le cas de cette panthère, réalisée vers 1920.

Albéric Collin (1886-1962), a Belgian animal sculptor and pastel artist , was influenced by his sculptor friend Rembrandt Bugatti whom he met in a zoo in Antwerp. Working regularly together, he was trained by the latter: "He advised me, helped me, pushed me to perfect my art. I owe him a lot ”. Albéric Collin sculpted animals exclusively, made often of bronze, he attached particular importance to the quality of the cast iron and the patina. This is particularly the case with this panther, made around 1920.
