先生歸矣,憶江湖廊廟,生涯萍泊。自種垞南千個竹,老讓懶雲閒託。繭線牽魚,弓枝射鴨,足伴填詞樂。畫圖常在,肯教踪跡零落。今日水淺荷荒,岩低桂蠹,殘阯難斟酌。何處牆邊樓影小,當日雨窗風冪。儒老乾坤,書懸日月,莫漫悲亭壑。重摹橫卷,遠山須染三角。嘉慶元年秋八月,儀徵阮元觀於嘉興試院,即用竹垞先生百字令韵題之,且訪遺址,重構小亭,邀諸詞客共賦別、摹畫卷,錄以自藏。元并識。
沖甫仁兄屬臨。芸臺相國題後小詞不復錄矣。清道人。

上款:「沖甫」即錢熊祥,號聽松,嘉興人。縣學附貢生,歷任陸軍部郎中、武選司幫辦、統計處處長等職。後曾任交通大學、聖約翰大學教席,擅經史、詩文、金石。與滬上文化界碩宿多所交往。
註:〈竹垞圖〉原卷乃清初著名畫家曹岳為詩人朱彝尊所寫。曹岳,字秋厓,江蘇泰興人,康熙期間畫家,山水師董其昌,清潤秀朗,得享時譽,北遊後聲望更隆。他與時稱詩壇南北二宗的朱彝尊和王士禎均友善,兩人亦好其畫。曹岳與朱彝尊(1629-1709)交好,故以其號「竹垞」寫圖贈之。圖中院宅前築蓮塘,外連阡陌,背依土丘,青蔥林蔭繞之,傍遍植琅玕,一片幽深雅緻,真文人棲隱耕讀之佳處。其中青竹漫植於土丘上,以應「竹垞」之意。
本幅乃民初著名人物畫家潘振鏞臨本。潘氏畫工人物,尤擅仕女,師法費丹旭而自成面貌。偶作山水,法近文徵明,惟傳世極稀。〈竹垞圖〉乃其晚歲之筆,雖年逾六旬,但描繪精細,行筆流暢,線綫準確,如叢竹排列之疏密井然、異種樹木之勾勒不同、房舍檐瓦之間格組合以至沿窗窺望室內之陳設佈置,俱一絲不苟地仔細描寫,毫無頹唐粗疏的老態。設色取小青綠為主調,如陂地、池塘、各種樹木源出一調,深淺濃淡各隨物狀不同而清晰陳現,無不切合其情其態,清麗淡逸處,盡得文人畫幽遠滌俗意境,從中流露「細文」風韵,有別與潘氏一貫人物畫風之俗艷刻板。如此精細流麗的畫風,與晚清期間吳大澂、顧澐、陸恢等風格頗近,既屬時代背景下的產物,稱之潘振鏞山水畫中畢生力作,自非托大之辭!
引首具清道人題署,他移錄嘉慶元年(1796)秋,內閣學士兼禮部待郎阮元出試嘉興,觀曹秋厓原卷於試院時的題跋,復題「百字令」詞一闋,追述阮芸臺訪竹垞舊宅觸景感懷,與畫卷圖文對照,追古思源,別有一番情致!
