Welcome to the Sotheby's Shortlist: a weekly curation of pieces you can buy now from our marketplace or bid on in our auctions.

W e don't need Miranda Priestley to tell us that flowers for springtime is hardly an innovation. But there's a reason we return, year after year, to the motif: after a season of grim gray skies and even grimmer gray slush puddles, we need the bursts of color and joy that spring flowers bring.

This week, we're introducing a new column we're calling The Sotheby's Shortlist. In it, we will select a few pieces from our bustling marketplace, hand-picked for the moment, available to buy right now. If you've already had a scroll through the Buy Now section of our site, you'll know that when it comes to handbags, jewels, memorabilia and more, you are spoiled for choice. But, sometimes it's nice to simply be handed an edited list—a digest, if you will—that takes away the guesswork and zeroes in on the best of the best. Whether you're shopping for yourself or someone else, this list is all you need.

Below, five floral jewels (including a watch) to perk you up for spring.

Van Cleef & Arpels Necklace

This vintage piece from the 1960s is set with 50 carats of turquoise and 25 carats of diamonds. Ingeniously designed by the French maison Van Cleef & Arpels, it may look like your standard necklace but it hides a little trick: it can split into two bracelets! This two-for-one piece, with its slender leaves and exaggerated flower design, is a party season stalwart that can be worn again and again.

Mauboussin Bracelet

This 18 karat gold bracelet is set with 14 flowers made from rubies, turquoise and diamonds. Though it is a signed Mauboussin piece, it also bears the maker's mark for George L'enfant, the 20th-century goldsmith who created works for Cartier, Bulgari, Vacheron Constantin and more. L'enfant's workshop was known for their skill in weaving and braiding gold—a skill that is on display here in a piece that is at once whimsical and grounded.

Graff Butterfly Wristwatch

This Butterfly wristwatch from 2023 is one of Graff’s signature high-jewelry timepieces. The pavé diamonds float above a bed of rubies in a particularly sweet motif reminiscent of a springtime garden. Graff returns to butterflies again and again (even on this piece, they appear on the case back in red enamel) making this watch an excellent choice for fans of the brand and lovers of all things spring.

Tiffany & Co Brooch

Brooches are making a comeback. They were all over the red carpets this awards season and for good reason: they jazz up otherwise classic garments and represent a perfect collecting opportunity. This diminutive 18 karat yellow gold brooch from Tiffany & Co is 1.75 inches in diameter, making it an excellent candidate for a lapel or to be worn with others as a group.
