F ergus Hall is one of the leading international dealers and experts in the field of old master paintings. Based in London, he deals in Dutch, Flemish, Italian, Spanish, French and British paintings from c.1500 to 1800, with a particular emphasis on works from the seventeenth century. His clients include some of the world's leading private collectors, as well as museums in Britain, Europe and America.
He has been instrumental in the rediscovery of a number of lost paintings – most notably the works of Anthony Van Dyck (including the Study for a Magistrate of Brussels), on whom he is an acknowledged specialist. His first career was in finance, advising on mergers & acquisitions, and later working as a private equity investor. Fergus left the finance industry in 2008 to follow his lifelong passion for art, forming an independent dealership in the same year with the encouragement of his friend and mentor Johnny van Haeften. Fergus is a longstanding exhibitor at TEFAF Maastricht, and a patron of CODART - the international network for curators of Netherlandish Art.
