Charlene Lau joined Sotheby’s in 2025 as Senior Director and Senior International Specialist, Jewelry Department, Asia Pacific. With over 20 years of experience in the jewelry industry, Charlene began her career at Christie’s in New York and Hong Kong, where she developed a deep expertise in fine jewelry and gemstones.
Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Charlene held key positions at Poly Auction and Phillips, where she played an instrumental role in expanding and strengthening their jewelry departments across Asia. During her tenure as Head of Department at Phillips, she achieved record-breaking results, including the landmark November 2021 sale of Sensational Jewels from a Prominent Middle Eastern Collection and Treasures from Zambia. In May 2023, she oversaw the sale of an exceptional 118.35-carat Sri Lankan sapphire and diamond necklace by Bulgari, which realized over HK$26 million.
Charlene holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Business Management and International Business from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and is a Graduate Gemologist certified by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). She is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
