T he New York Classic Photographs auction includes notable works by masters of 19th and 20th century photography including Ansel Adams, László Moholy-Nagy, Irving Penn, and Dorothea Lange. Names integral to the history of the medium including Dave Heath, Margaret Bourke-White, Alexander Rodchenko, August Sander and Francesca Woodman are represented by photographs rarely seen at auction. Online bidding will be open from 26 September until 7 October. A pre-sale exhibition of highlights will be on view at Sotheby’s New York, from 26 September to 6 October.

Picturing the American West
