Two volumes, 8vo (209 x 125 mm). Folding map, index at end of Vol. II; lacking half-titles, map with some offsetting and closed marginal tears, minor browning and foxing. Contemporary calf, edges speckled red; expertly rebacked, rubbed with some loss.
First edition in English — the George Brinley-Brayton Ives copy
Principally a description of French Canada, but also with chapters on New Orleans and Louisiana, Journal of a Voyage to North-America is regarded as "one of the most interesting of 18th century travel books" (Graff).
