Description

oval, all sides decorated in unusual teal translucent enamel over engine-turned bands and pellets, framed by opalescent enamel beads and green enamel laurel, the dividers to sides formed of miniature portraits of Greek philosophers in profile within laurel wreaths, resting on beads, maker's mark crowned EC, crowned R incuse, 'Alaterre' rosette, Hanau bird's head control mark for 19ct gold, later struck with two French post-1864 import marks for gold
