First edition of Fra Baglione's handbook for novice mendicant preachers, discussing rhetorical principles and classical orators, in particular Cicero, though with less reference to scriptural writings.


Andrea and Girolamo Torresano, two of the sons of Gian Francesco Torresano, were active as booksellers and printers in Venice from 1561; this is the first (and only) imprint naming Andrea Torresano the younger.


8vo (149 x 95 mm). Roman type, 27 lines plus headline. collation: A-P8: 120 leaves (last leaf blank). Woodcut Aldine device on title-page and P7, woodcut initials and cartouche. A few early annotations. (Cut slightly close at head.)


binding: Seventeenth-century vellum (151 x 103 mm), calf lettering-piece, blue edges.
