Bernard de Paris, a Capuchin friar, was a missionary in Turkey and the Near East and his French-Turkish dictionary was translated into Italian at the behest of the Congregatio de Propaganda Fide. It contains around 25,000 entries and includes Turkish, Arabic and Persian equivalents.
