4to (308 x 245 mm). Brown morocco, the covers decorated with vertical blind-tooled chevrons, gilt and palladium, crossed by two horizontal bands; smooth spine decorated with the same design and with gilt lettering, gilt edges, decorated inner morocco doublures; silver silk endpapers and flyleaves, slipcase (E. Maylander).
With two very fine original drawings by Jouve.
In an Art Deco binding by Maylander.
First edition.
75 compositions by Paul Jouve, engraved on wood by J.L. Perrichon in black or in colour, with occasional gilt highlights, including 28 plates, the wrappers and the two frontispieces, together with a suite in black.
Limited edition of 150 copies on Japan paper, this being one of 20 copies for contributors (n° XVII), including a suite in black.
This copy is extra-illustrated with two original black-chalk full-page drawings:
- Lion on a rock;
- Polar bear.
Signed “Jouve” in red ink.
