The annual WineCrush dinner hosted by John and Amy Phelan has become an undisputed highlight of Aspen Art Museum’s ArtCrush benefit week. On 2 August, the bash featured belly dancers, hookah and gourmet food and wine pairings, such as Tournedos Rossini and 1995 Chateau Pichon Baron. Lance Armstrong, NASCAR champ Jimmie Johnson and Sotheby’s Domenico De Sole, Tad Smith, and Oliver Barker were in attendance, as were artists Louise Lawler, Zoe Crosher, Hayal Pozanti and Lawrence Weiner, the 2017 Aspen Award for Art recipient. “Lawrence Weiner gave a lecture yesterday, and he said, ‘Awe may be the answer to everything,’” John Phelan told the crowd. “I’m in awe of the tent and the decor, but most of all, I’m in awe of you for supporting the Aspen Art Museum.” Click ahead for images from the evening.
