The Old Masters Day Sale realised £4,406,750. The top lot was a 17th-cenury Portrait of a Man from the Roman school which sold for £380,750.
The forthcoming Old Master December Day Sale includes excellent examples from most major schools of painting in Western Europe. We are particularly pleased to be able to offer for sale groups of paintings from important private collections, from both the UK and continental Europe, many of which have not been seen on the open market in recent memory and which remain in excellent original condition.
The Golden Age of Dutch and Flemish painting is particularly well represented within these groups. The Early British field is represented by, amongst others, a group of portraits by Joseph Wright of Derby from an English private collection, an important sporting painting by John Frederick Herring Snr. and a group of 18th-century views of London. With estimates ranging from £10,000 to £100,000, and paintings spanning 500 years of European art and history we are excited to present a Day Sale that will appeal to both seasoned collectors and buyers new to Old Master Paintings.
