Condition
The panel is uncradled, flat and stable. The paint surface is slightly dirty and the varnish is discoloured - the painting would benefit greatly from a light clean. There is a very small loss, lower right, at the base of the shepherd's red tunic (visible in the catalogue illustration). Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals a milky, opaque varnish, beneath which it is very difficult to discern any intervention, but the panel appears to be in untouched, excellent condition.
