Catalogue Note

The composition relates to an Adoration of the Shepherds (Manchester City Art Gallery),¹ attributed to Ridolfo Ghirlandaio (1483–1561), son of Domenico (d. 1494), and is close to several others by different hands, suggesting a studio drawing must have been in circulation.
