WaRega: A Masterpiece of African Art

Paris | June 2016

The highlight of our Arts d’Afrique et d’Océanie auction in Paris on 22 June 2016 is a large rare ivory mask symbolising tribal unity, ethics and beauty among the Lega people. Exceptional in its streamlined modernity, the mask is one of the earliest examples of Lega art to be seen in the west and has only been recently rediscovered after half a century.
