The Qing Wonder Reunited for the First Time in Over a Century

HONG KONG |8 OCTOBER

Marvel at the ingenuity and skill of this Qing Dynasty scroll as we bring to life a masterpiece revered by artists and collectors for hundreds of years. As the centrepiece of our ‘Fine Classical Chinese Paintings’ (8 October | Hong Kong) pre-sale exhibition, Sotheby’s will unveil this precious and prized treasure to the public for the first time in over a century. Part of an original monumental work comprising 12 scrolls, Scroll VI of ‘The Kangxi Emperor’s Southern Inspection Tour’ was cut into seven fragments and separated in the early 20th century. Now, thanks to the zeal of a determined collector, the fragments have been reunited and the scroll can once again be seen as intended.
