Signed by the one and only “Billy Shears” (aka Ringo Starr), this psychedelic landscape by Dutch design collective The Fool was originally commissioned as artwork for The Beatles’ legendary Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. In this episode of Masterworks: Expert Voices, find out why it was eventually rejected in favour of a photograph of the band and how it came to be signed by Ringo’s alter ego. “The Beatles - The Fool, Psychedelic Landscape Commissioned for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is a highlight of our upcoming online sale English Literature, History, Science, Children’s Books and Illustrations (30 November - 10 December).
