From 1959 to 1966, Zao Wou-Ki signed with the New York Kootz Gallery, marking the peak of his development in the American art scene. During this time, he created masterpieces on a series of specially commissioned large canvases measuring 200 x 162 cm, many of which are now housed in top museums around the world. This monumental work 02.01.65, whose scale and brilliance rival these world-class collections, will headline the inaugural Modern and Contemporary Art Evening Auction at Hong Kong Sotheby’s Maison.
