First Look: Time Traveling with Daniel Arsham’s Rimowa Attaché

Online | 2-13 May

Upon touring the archives at the Rimowa Factory in Cologne, artist and designer Daniel Arsham became enamored with the brand’s revered vintage briefcases. In this First Look, get a behind-the-scenes peek at Arsham’s interpretation of Rimowa’s iconic attaché, crafted with his distinctive, near-scientific sculptural technique. Similar to his “Future Relic” series (2013-2018), Arsham toes the line between a romanticized take on archaeology and science fiction by reimagining the briefcase as if unearthed from an archaeological dig site in the year 3019. Rimowa x Daniel Arsham: ED. 008 (Special Edition) will be offered in an single lot, online-only auction ending on 13 May and includes a signed drawing of the artwork, a personalized letter from the artist, and a special edition luggage sticker set. (2-13 May | New York)
