Man Ray spent much of his career in Paris, and was associated with both Surrealism and Dada. This is a portfolio of ten lithographs entitled De l'origine d'especes par voie de selection irrationnelle (On the Origin of Species as a Process of Irrational Selection), created in 1971, shortly before he died.

This Valise des Nouveaux Réalistes contains the manifesto of the well-known artistic group founded in 1960 around critic Pierre Restany and painter Yves Klein. It's often considered the transposition of American Pop Art in France.

Alighiero Boetti was a key member of the Arte Povera group in the late 1960s, working extensively with industrial materials. This very desireable portfolio, which contains a summary of the artist’s oeuvre from the 1960s up to 1975, was created by the artist together with his close friend and publisher Rinaldo Rossi. A similar portfolio was recently purchased by the Tate Modern .

Sotheby's first sale of Contemporary Art Editions from a private collection is open for bidding until 28 June. The collection features pieces by established masters like Richter, Koons, Kusama, Kapoor and Sachs, along with objects trouvés by Man Ray, works by Hans Arp and the Nouveau Réalistes, the iconic Valise du Nouveau Realisme and editions by César and Arman. It continues through to the early 1950s, with the Zero Group represented by Manzoni, Fontana and Yves Klein, then on into the 1960s and 1970s with sculpture by Fausto Melotti.
