Moda Operandi and Sotheby’s: Statement Jewels and Fashion

Launch Slideshow

The luxury online retailer Moda Operandi has just opened an appointment-only atelier in a town house just off Madison Avenue. On the evening of 15 September, Sotheby’s was delighted to co-host with them the space’s inaugural event, where highlights from the 22 September Important Jewels sale were on view alongside fresh-from-the-runway looks by Giambattista Valli and other designers. Four models wore evening gowns accessorised with pieces selected by Sotheby’s specialist Frank Everett, who with Jamie Freed of Moda Operandi was on hand to talk about the pairings. Among the looks were a navy satin sheath by Monique Lhuillier paired with a Van Cleef & Arpels gold, sapphire and diamond pendant necklace and matching earrings, and a blush-coloured gown by design duo Brock that was worn with Bulgari’s gold-link necklace and 18-karat evening clutch – “very iPhone friendly,” said Everett.
