This beautiful bronze sculpture depicts Egyptian goddess Isis sitting on a throne, with her child Horus, another significant God from the ancient Egyptian pantheon, on her lap.
The Hours of Dona Violante, Use of Rome, in Latin and Catalan [Spain (Valencia) and southern Netherlands (Bruges), c.1480] Sold for £605,000 at Sotheby’s London.
This masterpiece was made for a Catalonian woman named "Yolant" (commonly known as Violante) who had a special devotion to Franciscan and Dominican saints. The manuscript is further personalised by the inclusion of her family’s armorial shields.

This fantastical devotional Infant Christ in a Baldachino has wonderful detailing, in particular the silver filigree bird at the top and the chandeliers suspended from the canopy.
Domenikos Theotokopoulos, called El Greco, The Crucifixion. Sold for £ 3,442,500 at Sotheby’s London.
This powerful and dramatic depiction of Christ on the Cross by El Greco can be dated to around 1600-10, and is one of only three surviving large-scale versions of this composition by the great master. The subject of Christ on the cross is the central image in Christian art, signifying the potential moment of man’s redemption and delivery from the original sin of Adam, and it was treated by El Greco throughout his career.
Juan de Arellano, Still Life with a Large Array of Flowers in a Glass Vase on a Stone Pedestal. Sold for £341,000 at Sotheby’s London.
This elaborate still life by the leading flower painter of 17th-century Spain was most probably painted in the mid-to-late 1660s, during the artist’s maturity. It belongs to a group of compositions characterised by an abundance of flowers that distinguish themselves from his earlier, more restrained works of the 1650s and early 1660s.
Joaquin Sorolla, Pescadores Valencianos (Valencian Fishermen), 1895. Sold for £3,737,250 at Sotheby’s London.
Painted in 1895 on Valencia beach, Valencian Fishermen is Sorolla's brilliant sequel to his painting La vuelta de la pesca (Return from Fishing) painted a year earlier, both of which celebrate the labour of local fishermen.

Born in the Canary Islands, Oscar Domínguez began to paint at an early age and was known as the 'Surrealist painter of the islands'. This dramatic work from the artist was painted in the spring of 1940.
Wifredo Lam, Sin título (Eva), 1931. Sold for $394,000 at Sotheby’s New York.
This melancholic 1931 work is believed to be a portrait of Eva, the artist's first wife, who tragically contracted tuberculosis and died months after their marriage, followed shortly by their one-year-old son, Wilfredo Víctor.
Fernando Zobel, "Montefurado", 1964. Sold for HK$2,920,000 at Sotheby’s Hong Kong.
Located in a town called Quiroga in Spain, the famous Roman Tunnel of Montefurado is the subject in this work, which was built by the Emperor Trajan in the second century. The landscape is painted in lyrical and eloquent gestures, which compliments the mellow tones of the natural hues used to illustrate the atmosphere.
Eduardo Chillida, Ikaraundi, 1957. Sold for £1,049,250 at Sotheby’s London.
Wrought in seeming weightless waves, cadent rhythms and trembling planes of solid bronze, Ikaraundi is universally considered a masterpiece from Eduardo Chillida’s early career.
