This October, Frieze and Frieze Masters will transform London into the undisputed capital of the art world. Propelled by the momentum of Frieze Week, Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Auction will offer an outstanding selection of works by some of the most important artists of the contemporary period, from Francis Bacon and Jean-Michel Basquiat to Louise Bourgeois and Cecily Brown. The auction is led by a group of works from post-war Italian masters including Lucio Fontana, Piero Manzoni and Alberto Burri. Other highlights include works by Albert Oehlen, Jean Dubuffet and Cy Twombly, as well as a prescient painting by street artist Banksy.
