Rolex, 'Bubbleback' Reference 3134 A stainless steel automatic wristwatch, circa 1945. Estimate $4,000–6,000.

Identifiable by its prominent 'bubbleback' case, the Rolex Bubbleback was one of the first self-winding automatic watches available on the market. Launched in 1933, the Bubbleback had the first auto-rotor. Due to the size of the auto-rotor, the case of the 'bubbleback' had to be enlarged. The present watch is additionally dressed with a California dial, where both Arabic and Roman numerals are utilized.

Rolex, Oyster Perpetual Date Reference 15037 A yellow gold automatic center seconds wristwatch with date, circa 1986. Estimate $3,000–5,000.

This Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date features a highly-desirable gilt dial. A gilt dial is characterized by gold leaf or gold paint, which is applied beneath the markers and writing. Gilt dials were featured on Rolex's sport watches throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Due to their rarity, gilt dials are popular in today's market.

Rolex, Oyster Perpetual Date Ref 15037 A yellow gold automatic wristwatch with date and bracelet, circa 1981. Estimate $3,000–5,000.

Rolex first coined the term 'Oyster' in 1926, upon their creation of the first dustproof and waterproof watch, featuring a hermetically sealed case, Rolex patented the 'Oyster' Case, by building a screw-down bezel, case back and a winding crown. Five years later, in 1931, Rolex constructed the perpetual rotor, a self-winding mechanism that rotates with the movement of the wearer's wrist. This rotor is in every modern automatic watch today.

Rolex, King Midas Cellini Reference 4315 A yellow gold asymmetrical left-handed wristwatch with bracelet, circa 1970. Estimate $6,000–8,000.

Named after the Greek King, the Rolex Midas was first released in 1964. It was designed by Gerald Genta, the same designer who later created the iconic Patek Philippe Nautilus, and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. At the time of its release this was the heaviest watch on the market, a nod to the myth that Midas' touch could turn anything into gold.

The Autavia is named after two activities that required precise timing; Auto and Aviation. Up until 1985, there were over 80 different Autavia iterations, all which featured stainless steel cases and rotating bezels. The reference 73663 has a larger case and contains a manual-winding Valjoux chronograph movement (Valjoux 7736).

Rolex, GMT-Master II Reference 16753 A stainless steel and yellow gold automatic center seconds dual time wristwatch with date, circa 1982. Estimate $6,000–8,000.

The Rolex GMT-Master was originally designed for Pan-Am pilots and features a 24-hour bezel and separate GMT Hand, allowing the wearer to keep track of two different time zones. The reference 16753 is from the 3rd generation of GMT-Master production, which began in the early 1980s. This new iteration features a quick-set date and an increased movement speed.
