Paris Contemporary Art Auctions

June 2021
On 3 June, Sotheby’s Paris will hold two back-to-back auctions dedicated to post-war and contemporary art.

Absolument Moderne, Collection Rambaud features a selection of exceptional works from the School of Paris. The single-owner collection showcases artworks by Pierre Soulages, Zao Wou-Ki, Hans Hartung and Joan Mirò.

It will be followed by the Art Contemporain Evening Sale, featuring works by the greatest masters of the second half of the 20th century, such as Pierre Soulages, Zao Wou-Ki, Anselm Kiefer and Jean Dubuffet, as well as pieces by artists who are rarely featured in Paris auctions, such as William N. Copley, Günther Uecker, Sean Scully and Fernando Zóbel. It also presents a significant array of works by Spanish artists and by members of the El Paso group, including Antoni Tàpies, Antonio Saura and Manolo Millares, as well as three works from the William Louis-Dreyfus Foundation and family collection, including a monumental pastel by Sam Szafran.

The Art Contemporain Day Sale includes artworks by Alighiero Boetti, Christo, Yves Klein, Carlos Cruz Diez, Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Victor Vasarely.
