About the Museum
This museum was founded in 1986 to showcase Franz Marc's life and work within the setting and landscape that so influenced him, an hour outside Munich in Kochel am See. Since its expansion in 2008, the facility has displayed Marc's works juxtaposed with examples of his contemporaries. Its permanent collection includes key works by Paul Klee, along with major post-war German and French art. A regularly redesigned hanging and annually temporary exhibitions explore the different aspects of the collection and present Franz Marc's work in a way that wholistically depics his personality and visionary spirit.
