W ith a life-size sculpture by Rodin, L'Âge d'airain, and Christine and the Queens / Redcar as guest of honour of The Paris Sales week, the new session of the Modernités sale promises to be exceptional. From the former David-Weill collection, the bronze, based on the pure aesthetics of the human form, is a masterpiece of modernity. Having remained in the same collection for fifty years, it is one of the very last examples of this model still in private hands. Exceptional works by Soulages, by Dufy with four decorative panels designed for the villa L'Altana in Antibes, by Nicolas de Staël with a final work from 1955 representing the fort of Antibes, demonstrate the artistic richness of the 20th century. As do the inventions of Schwitters, his friends Kandinsky and Arp, Picasso, Richier and Zao Wou-Ki.
