Going Deeper - Ryan Giggs
Ryan Giggs is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Manchester United’s history and one of the most successful footballers of the modern era. A product of the club’s academy, he made his first-team debut in 1991 and went on to spend his entire professional career at Old Trafford, making a record 963 appearances.
Primarily a left winger before later moving into midfield, Giggs was known for his pace, dribbling, and consistency over a remarkably long career. With Manchester United, he won 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, and two UEFA Champions League titles, becoming a central figure in the club’s sustained domestic and European dominance under Sir Alex Ferguson.
At international level, Giggs represented Wales between 1991 and 2007, earning 64 caps and scoring 12 goals. Although Wales did not qualify for a major tournament during his career, he remained the country’s standout player for more than a decade and later captained Great Britain at the 2012 London Olympics.
