A DISTINCTIVE AND DIFFICULT TO ACQUIRE METEORITE FROM THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK
Mundrabilla is one of the more visually stunning and distinctive meteorites. Found on The Nullarbor Plain of the Australian Outback, Mundrabilla was discovered piecemeal over half of a century and classified as separate meteorites before all were identified as part of the same ancient meteorite impact.
Although over 24 tons of Mundrabilla have been found across Western Australia, and its strewn field is one of the largest ever discovered, it should be noted there is considerably less material than this available to collectors: the 13-ton main mass currently resides in the Western Australia Museum, and other 1+ ton masses can be found in museums across the country. In addition, because Australia has severely restricted the export of Mundrabilla, finding large slices such as this one is quite difficult.
