The Mack Trucks Company is an icon of American manufacturing. Founded in 1900 in Brooklyn, New York, the company is known for the durability of their vehicles and Bulldog mascot. Throughout its 126 year history, the brand has weathered Wars and Depressions, steered by generations of the company's leadership.
The present Patek Philippe 2552 was a watch that was gifted to one such member of Mack Trucks' leadership: Mr. George E. Clark, who was the Chairman of the company, in 1957.
Produced from 1954 to 1960, the 2552 stands out with its elegant stepped case that lead collectors to nickname the watch 'Disco Volante' or 'flying Saucer' in Italian. The case was designed and manufactured by none other than A. Wenger, and it was the first reference to house Patek's legendary self-winding caliber 12-600. The 'HOX' import mark stamped on the movement confirms the present 2554's delivery to the American market and its incredible provenance.
