One of just two examples known to the market, the present Patek Philippe reference 1594 Calatrava is extraordinarily rare and further distinguished by its highly desirable “pink on pink” configuration with Freccero retailer signature.

The reference 1594 is often confused with the more common reference 96, though the two differ notably in case construction. While both share a 30.5 mm diameter and 18 mm lug width, the reference 1594 features a two-piece case composed of a mid-case with integrated bezel and a snap-on caseback, whereas the reference 96 employs a traditional three-piece construction with a separate bezel, mid-case, and caseback. According to our research, production of the reference 1594 is estimated at approximately 12 examples across both yellow and pink gold. Only two examples are known to the market, the present watch and one other, separated by just two serial numbers.

The present example is further distinguished by its particularly appealing “pink on pink” configuration, combining a pink gold case with a matching pink dial – an aesthetic celebrated for its warmth, harmony, and unmistakable sophistication. Enhancing its significance is the retailer signature of Freccero, the esteemed South American jeweler long associated with some of the most striking and uncommon Patek Philippe watches of the period. Freccero was especially known for commissioning pink-on-pink examples, making such configurations not only visually compelling but also historically significant within the landscape of mid-century collecting.
