Around the world, the number eight is special. In the West, the numeral “8” when laid on its side resembles the symbol for infinity. For this reason in various cultures and philosophies, the number 8 symbolises eternity and balance, with perhaps the most famous being the Ouroboros Mythos, the snake eating its own tail symbolising infinite cyclical recreation. In the East, the number is perhaps even more significant, symbolising wealth and prosperity, and is a favoured number by both the Chinese and Buddhist communities.

The present “Red Eight” perhaps the most symbolically significant of the four special order and possibly unique 5980s. The combination of the number eight with the various red elements on the dial makes for an extremely auspicious design and is sure to appeal to Eastern collectors. Preserved in completely untouched condition, the present Nautilus “Red Eight” is sure to bring fortune and prosperity.
