This gold pencil with an integrated watch exemplifies how the brand transformed a simple utilitarian object into an innovative and luxurious statement piece that offered both functionality and delight to its user. The FHF 59 baguette-form movement was widely used in Cartier New York’s timepiece accessories, favoured for its diminutive size, which made it ideal for integration into a variety of objects without significantly altering their proportions.

Jader Barracca, Giampiero Negretti, Franco Nencini, Le Temps de Cartier, Milan: Publiprom, Second Edition, 1993. See p. 217 for a similar example but without ribbed decoration.
