Introduced at Baselworld in 1991, the Daniel Roth Retrograde reference 2127 is one of the most iconic independent watchmaker's masterpieces. Inspired by Mr. George Daniels' pocket watch, this masterpiece features Roth’s signature double-ellipse case in 18k white gold and a slate-grey dial with fine vertical stripe guilloché and clear Arabic numerals. Inside is the mechanical calibre 27LN, built upon a highly modified Lemania movement made to power the retrograde hour display. Instead of going around in a full circle, the hour hand moves across a semicircular arch. When it reaches the 6 o'clock on the right, it instantly jumps back to the 6 o'clock on the left in a fraction of a second, without disturbing the small seconds counter below. As an early benchmark of 1990s independent watchmaking, this timepiece is a standout addition to any collection.
