The present Reference 5177G-028 is part of Patek Philippe's esteemed Rare Handcrafts collection, uniting the manufacture's ultra-thin self-winding Calibre 240 with a refined white gold Calatrava case, featuring the Clous de Paris hobnail bezel. Inspired by the mesmerizing movement of "a school of fish", the dial captures the harmony and fluidity of nature through the demanding art of Grand Feu cloisonné enamel. Fine gold wires are meticulously arranged by hand to create the design before being filled with coloured enamel and fired repeatedly at temperatures approaching 800°C. Each dial requires between twelve and fifteen firings, a laborious process demanding exceptional precision and skill.

The dial bears the initials “AP”, indicating the involvement of Anita Porchet, widely regarded as one of the most accomplished enamellers in contemporary Swiss watchmaking. Combining artistic craftsmanship with horological excellence, the present watch represents a compelling example of Patek Philippe's dedication to preserving traditional decorative arts.
