circular, the lid painted en plein with two children playing marbles after Francesco Bartolozzi, against a pale yellow background, in a shaped octagonal paillon frame, on a dark blue enamel ground over sunray engine-turning, within paillon borders in blue, gold and opaque white, the outer chased sablé borders embellished with split pearls and translucent green enamel leaves, the sides and base similarly decorated, maker's mark M&P crowned incuse with a heart below,
