upright rectangular, the front set with an oval enamel plaque of an allegory of music on an opalescent pale pink ground, in a white and blue cloisonnée enamel frame, surrounded by translucent dark blue enamel on bands of scale engine-turning, chased leaf borders and outer interlaced frames in dark blue and white enamel, the lid to both sides applied with rose-cut diamond-set lettering reading: Souvenir, the reverse inset with a glazed enamel oval applied with engraved gold initials MS, now missing pencil and writing slips, maker's mark,


height 9.2 cm.; 3 5/8 in.
