rectangular, the lid painted en plein with an Italianate landscape, in the foreground a man on horseback and another horse, waiting for the return of a woman filling a water jug by a fountain, a waterfall and rockery to the right, against a rosy-pink translucent enamel sky, in a slender gold paillon frame, on an opaque turquoise green enamel ground, framed by en plein rose garlands, the sides and base similarly decorated, sunburst between three sprigs, the right rim numbered 3460, later French import marks


length 8.2 cm; 3 1/4 in.
